Monday October 14th - Saturday October 19th
Arvon - Totleigh Barton
As we tune in to the dark turning days of mid-October, join two of poetry’s finest fabulists, Sophie Herxheimer and Fiona Benson, in exploring and writing poems of light, dark and the ambivalent in-between. Finding resilience in serious play, we will retell fireside fairytales, flip the binary of baddie and goodie, celebrate the undercelebrated, and make collages and poems of wonder, outrage and joy. Enter the den of ownerless midnight, lit by the lamp of illuminated question marks, and search under orange leaves to find all you need to keep your spirits warm, dry and crackling. How do we go into the winter months and stay alive to their beauty? How do we look into the heart of contemporary sorrow and horror and still find the spirit to sing? Poems and courage, scissors and glue – come and snip a winter and a future to believe in!
